Beckmann Architecture is a design-led architecture practice based in Haslemere and Coulsdon working across Surrey, Petersfield, Hampshire, and the surrounding South East. We specialise in bespoke residential architecture, from contemporary new-builds to sensitive renovations and small-scale developments.

Connor Beckmann

Founder, Architectural Designer // BA [Hons], MArch

Connor undertook his architectural training at Bournemouth and Portsmouth Universities before founding Beckmann Architecture in 2017. He has since worked on a variety of projects from one-off dwellings, self-build projects, multiple unit schemes, as well as extensions and renovations at a varying scales which has continued to fuel his passion for Architecture & Design. Having undertaken construction of his own new build dwelling within a constrained infill plot, his hands-on practical experience of construction provides a creative and pragmatic approach to solutions of design realisation.

Connor is a keen runner, dog dad to Luka and spends most of his free time restoring his Datsun.  

Matt Sharman-Hayles

Architect // BA [Hons], MArch, PGDipAPM, ARB

Matt completed all his architectural studies at Newcastle University. His Thesis project with Dr Rachel Armstrong, which explored biochemical applications in water resilient architecture was nominated for the RIBA Hadrians Medal and exhibited at the Tallinn Bienalle 2017. In practice, Matt has been working in architecture since the age of 14 and has recently been working specifically with flood risk sites. He has a unique knowledge of flood resilient design and planning, with his experience spanning across residential, hospitality and leisure. 

Matt loves anything that involves water, being outdoors and scribbling on paper. He is a keen swimmer, scuba diver as well as being a published illustrator.
